Support widget

Help, on your own website.

A customer writes "I can't find last month's invoice". The right answer is not a contact form. It is "sign in and I'll look" — and then "I found invoice INV-4213 from 4 August. Shall I email it to you?"

Need help?

On your own site, in your own design.

I can't find last month's invoice.

I can help with that. Sign in and I can look at your account.

(signs in)

I found invoice INV-4213 from 4 August. Would you like me to download it or email it to you?

It knows the difference between a question and a lookup

Documentation questions get answered from approved knowledge. Account questions ask the customer to sign in, because that is the only honest way to answer them.

Signing in is offered, not demanded

Browsing questions never require an account. Authentication is requested at the moment it becomes necessary, with a reason.

Everything becomes a case cleanly

When the assistant cannot help, what the customer already typed carries into a case. Retyping the question is where people give up.

It carries your brand, not ours

Your colours, your wording, on your domain. A support widget that advertises a vendor makes a small company look like it outsourced its customers.

Questions this answers

The things you currently have to ask somebody.

Each of these is a question an owner asks regularly and currently answers from memory, a spreadsheet, or by interrupting whoever is nearest.

Where this stops

What it does not do.

The widget answers from published knowledge and, once the customer is signed in, from their own account records. It will not process refunds, change subscriptions, cancel anything or discuss a complaint — those go to a person by design. It also cannot help a customer it cannot identify with anything account-specific, and it says so rather than guessing.
